One of the most amazing concerts I've been to; up there with Roger Waters' "In the Flesh" tour of 2000/2001 and Pink Floyds' "Division Bell" tour in 1994. More about the concert and set list here.
First half was Dave's new album in its entirety, but the second half had several surprises. They started with "Shine On", for which they were joined by Crosby and Nash. "Wots...Uh The Deal" was a first glimpse at the classic Floyd, the song written by Syd Barret, from the "Obscured by Clouds" CD. Then Richard Wright sang the "Wearing the Inside Out" from the "Division Bell". Then some more from the last (in every sense of the word) Pink Floyd album - "Coming Back to Life", and later on "High Hopes". Then of course came the beloved "Breathe/Time/Breathe reprise". Bu the highlight was the performance of "Echoes" from "Meddle". I just stood there realizing, that it's impossible that it's 2006, and I am standing there listening to Gilmour and Wright performing "Echoes". But I was. To wrap it up they played "Wish You Were Here", "Find the Cost of Freedom" (with Crosby and Nash - one of their songs; sung acapella), and of course "Comfortably Numb". Top all of this off with a pretty decent lazer show (not like the 1994 concert, though; but this was a tiny venue for them - only 6000 people).
The musician list was impressive: Gilmour, Wright, Jon Carin (keyboards; played on the "Momentary Lapse of Reason" album and tour, "Division Bell" album and tour, "In the Flesh" tour with Roger Waters), Dick Parry (saxophone; played on the original "Us and Them" and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", and also on the "Division Bell" tour), Guy Pratt (bass; played on "Momentary Lapse of Reason" and "Division Bell" tours; also happens to be Rick Wrights son-in-law), Phil Manzanera (guitar, played with Roxy Music), and Steve DiStanislao (drums; played with Crosby). |
